How Data Center Cooling Hoses Protect High-Performance Electronics

Liquid cooling systems rely on a network of components that move coolant between cooling distribution units, manifolds, cold plates, heat exchangers, and other equipment. The hose within that network must be compatible with the system’s pressure, temperature, fluid, fittings, and routing requirements. Proper hose selection therefore starts with the specifications of the cooling application rather than treating every fluid-transfer line the same.

Diebolt & Company’s data center cooling hose, the Data SCT Cooling Hose, is manufactured for liquid-cooling applications such as rack-to-CDU connections, in-rack manifold quick connects, cold plates, rack-to-rack jumpers, internal server loops, and rear-door heat exchangers. Its construction combines a virgin PTFE core, stainless steel braid reinforcement, and an extruded silicone outer cover.

PTFE Forms the Inner Fluid Path

The Data SCT uses Teflon™ PTFE for its hose core. Both non-conductive and conductive-lined virgin PTFE configurations are available, allowing the assembly to be specified according to the electrical and fluid-handling requirements of the application.

Diebolt & Company lists compatibility with data-cooling liquids including PG25 and deionized water-glycol mixtures. Because coolant formulations and system conditions can vary, material compatibility should always be evaluated alongside the pressure, temperature, and operating requirements of the complete cooling loop.

Stainless Steel Braid Reinforces the Assembly

A 100% stainless steel braid surrounds the PTFE core to reinforce the hose assembly. Diebolt & Company publishes separate operating and burst pressure ratings for the currently listed Data SCT configurations.

The DATA SCT -10 has a 0.500-inch average inside diameter and is rated for 1,500 psi operating pressure with a 6,000 psi burst pressure. The DATA SCT -12 has a 0.625-inch average inside diameter and is rated for 1,200 psi operating pressure with a 4,400 psi burst pressure.

These published values provide engineers with specific data that can be compared directly with the pressure requirements of the intended cooling system.

The Outer Cover and Fittings Complete the Assembly

The Data SCT uses an extruded silicone outer cover over its reinforced hose construction. White and burnt orange are listed as standard cover colors, with additional hose sizes available beyond the two published configurations.

Fitting options include stainless steel and electroless nickel-plated hydraulic configurations. The selected fitting style should match the connection points, hardware, and routing requirements of the cooling system to support a properly specified assembly.

Published Ratings Help Define the Application

Diebolt & Company lists a temperature range of -65°F to 450°F for the Data SCT Cooling Hose. Temperature, pressure, coolant chemistry, routing, and connection type should be evaluated together when determining the appropriate hose configuration.

The product’s published applications also show that the Data SCT can serve several points within a data-center liquid-cooling system rather than being limited to a single type of connection.

When specifying a data center cooling hose for facilities nationwide, engineers and operators can evaluate Diebolt & Company’s Data SCT using documented construction details, ratings, materials, and fitting options instead of relying on broad performance assumptions. From Old Lyme, CT, Diebolt & Company provides a purpose-built hose option for liquid-cooling applications that require a flexible assembly matched carefully to the system’s operating conditions.

Technical and Specification-Forward Support

Every liquid-cooling system has its own operating requirements. Diebolt & Company can help engineers and facility operators evaluate the appropriate Data SCT configuration, including hose size, liner type, cover color, and fitting style, for a specific application.
